What About the Wailing Wall

Even though there are two different accounts of Jesus lamenting over Jerusalem (parallel accounts in Matt. 23:37-39 and Luke 13:34-35 and the other in Luke 19:41-44), they both pose a false prophecy. In Luke 19:41-42, Jesus was speaking to the city of Jerusalem when he said that the things of peace were hidden from it.

Luke 19:41  Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."

Verse 43 tells the city it shall be encompassed about under siege. Verse 44 tells the city of Jerusalem that it shall be leveled to the ground, "(A)nd they will not leave in you (Jerusalem) one stone upon another."

Today, nearly 2,000 years since then, there is still standing in Jerusalem what is called the "Wailing Wall," which is supposed to be the west wall of the temple's outer court. It is said that the wailing wall is the only part of the ancient temple still standing. Even though the outer court was not part of the temple proper, it was part of the old city of Jerusalem, which Jesus prophesied of: "(A)nd they will not leave in you one stone upon another" (Luke 19:44b).

Some will say, in defense of Jesus, "He probably was referring to the temple," and will quote Matt. 24:1-2.

1Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

Here Jesus was speaking of only the temple. In Luke 19:41-44, however, he was clearly speaking of the entire city of Jerusalem, and it did not happen as either prophecy said. That makes Jesus a false prophet.

Why People Believe in God, Jesus, and the Bible

"But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must (necessarily) believe that God exists and that He is the Rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him (out)" (Hebrews 11:6, Amplified Bible).

What I am attempting to reveal is that Christian believers hold to their faith because their Bible (Word of God) tells them they must believe entirely by faith, without any proof. They must merely believe in God's existence before coming to him. They do not need any proof or evidence of the existence of a God but only their faith and belief, without any evidence or proof.

They usually hear about this God by men who are authority figures, such as pastors and teachers or deacons or elders. They are told about this God as if the story is absolutely true. When they were children they may have heard stories of fables or myths, such as Santa, the tooth fairy, and the like, but these stories are not reemphasized as truth as the story of God is. This story is told as the truth.

The story of Jesus is also told to them as absolute truth, as well as the miracles that Jesus allegedly performed.

Adding to the supposed truth of all this is the fact that millions of adults also believe in the stories of Christianity. They may think, "All those millions of other adults surely cannot be mistaken." And when adults speak of God or Jesus or the Bible, they do not speak jokingly but rather as if it were true.

Christian believers hold doggedly to their beliefs because of their faith. The Bible definition of this faith is given in Hebrews 11:1.

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title-deed) of the things {we} hope for, being the proof of things {we} do not see and the conviction of their reality --- faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses" (Amplified Bible).

Notice this says that their faith is assurance of the things they hope for. It says this faith is also the proof of things they do not see. And it is also the conviction of its reality. In other words, this faith is perceived as real facts of what is not revealed to the senses.

Now you who may be reading this article and have embraced Christianity, all I would like you to do is only consider the thought that you have believed these stories like a child and not as an adult with the ability to reason and think skeptically. You have expressed your sincere belief and trust in God and Jesus by faith as these verses speak of. You have come in belief and faith to this God, spoken of in the Bible, being very sincere and trusting. By your faith, you sincerely believe in God and you also believe he will reward your faith in him, as it says in Hebrews 11:6.

This faith of yours, you also trust, and it gives you assurance of the invisible things you hope for, such as forgiveness of sins, a home in heaven, eternal life, and the like. As it says in Hebrews 11:1, this also gives you confidence that what you believe to be true, which is not revealed by any of your senses, is indeed true and real.

Now are you able to step back and look at your Christian life and see it as it is in reality? The reality of it all is this: you only believe in God and believe he will reward you. You only hope and trust that your faith will see you through the supposed reality of all the things you only believe to be true.

On top of all this, you probably have a deep fear of ever turning your back on your beliefs for fear of punishment and a burning hell awaiting you after you die. Then there is the other side of the coin. That would be turning your back on all that Jesus supposedly did for you and this imaginary love for you.

Are you able to see that this whole thing of Christianity and your sincere belief are only in your mind, which has been washed (programmed) to believe this from childhood?

I know for a fact and experientially that it is very hard to rethink all you have been taught and to have the courage to turn away from all of it. Virtually impossible.

If you choose not to, it will either be out of fear of hell or lack of courage, or refusing to consider these truths.
